Mastering…
… you know you need it if you want your tracks to be ready for release.
Great mastering however comes at a cost, which for some newer producers may be a hurdle to getting their tracks out there. Sometimes the budget is just not budgeting, I get it.
So, in this short post I’ll give you my recommendation for the best free online mastering I’ve found. Before I do however, a quick warning and disclaimer…
… the service I mention is fine if you’re in a pinch and just want to get your track ready enough. It will however never be as good as sending your track to a mastering engineer who has experience in mastering for your genre.
Sure, free AI mastering tools have gotten better with time and will likely continue to improve but as of the time of writing this, none of them can compare to an experienced mastering engineer with great ears, top-class gear and a professionally designed mastering studio to work with.
So, again, if you’re serious about the track or album, and want it to be the best it can possibly be, then seriously consider biting the bullet and opt for a pro mastering engineer to do the job right.
OK…
… warning and disclaimer over.
The best free online mastering service I know of is...
... Bandlab Mastering.
You’ll just have to sign up for a free account to use it.
Mastering your track using this service is extremely easy.
Start by uploading your track…
Then, once it’s been processed you can select one of the 4 different free presets.
1. Universal
2. Fire
3. Clarity
4. Tape
Then it’s simply a matter of clicking “Download” and you’re all set!
Oh and, one last thing…
I’ve found that the quality of your mix makes a huge difference to the results you’ll get with this tool. So, make sure it’s as good as you can get it before uploading your track.
Again. This free mastering tool will not substitute for a pro mastering engineer who knows his art and craft but there are instances where something like this comes in handy, so I’ll just leave it here.
